Academy of Design
The Academy of Design is RCC Institute of Technology’s applications-oriented school of design. For over 25 years, The Academy has been a leader in education for the exciting industries of Fashion and Interior Design. Since its inception, the Academy has also helped pioneer Video Game education in Canada, and developed a cutting edge curriculum for Graphic Design. Having produced over 12,000 graduates, the Academy has earned respect in Canada and the rest of the world.
Founded in 1983, as The International Academy of Design and Technology, the Academy became one of Canada’s premier design educators, offering practical programs taught by industry professionals. The Academy provides students with the skills they need to launch a successful career. Equipped with current-industry technology, classroom and studio programs allow students to learn and apply new skills to real-world situations. Personal attention is paramount at the Academy. Course content is updated regularly to reflect industry trends. No matter when you attend the Academy, you’re sure to receive the most current and personalized education available.
Preparing students for seamless integration into the creative work force keeps the Academy’s job-placement rate consistently high, because students receive the combined advantages of specialized training, business sense and the technical skills necessary for today’s competitive job market. In two years or less, students emerge with a highly-marketable diploma, and the necessary skills to make their careers happen upon graduation.
The Academy’s student body is as diverse as you’ll experience at any post-secondary institution. The Academy is full of creative minded students enrolled in six different programs. Many of our students come to the Academy form Secondary Schools, Colleges, Universities, from across Canada, the U.S., and abroad. No matter where they are from or why they have chosen the Academy, all students work together in close-knit groups, each contributing his or her own particular brand of creative insight.
In 2008, The Academy of Design became a family of programs under RCC Institute of Technology, Canada’s oldest technology institute, with a remarkable history serving the high technology sectors and pioneering innovative and responsive technology education. The result: a well-rounded education that leads to marketable career skills.
