  • RCC Joins Yorkville University Family

In July 2007, Yorkville University acquired RCC Institute of Technology, one of Canada’s longest established technical training institutions. This acquisition allows Yorkville University to offer undergraduate degrees in technology to the Ontario market. Offering bachelor degrees in both Computer Information Systems and Electronics Engineering Technology, as well as a variety of diploma programs, RCC Institute of Technology’s newly transformed School of Engineering Technology and Computing is currently restructuring its delivery options to make its programs accessible to a wider range of individuals that were previously unable to return to school.

The acquisition of RCC Institute of Technology demonstrates Yorkville University’s commitment to offering a range of applications-oriented degree education that is accessible to non-traditional university students. Dr. Michael Markovitz, President of Yorkville University explained that “The combination of RCC and Yorkville University helps create in one entity a diversity of programs, locations, and Faculties that promotes the concept of a first truly Canadian national university”. Similarly, Dr. Rick Davey, President of RCC and now Vice-President Academic at Yorkville University, believes that “With its focus on working adults and online delivery, Yorkville University represents a tremendous opportunity for RCC to increase its market reach and to contribute even more to technology education in Canada.”

Originally established in 1928 as Radio College of Canada, RCC Institute of Technology was the first private institute in Ontario to receive consent from the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities to deliver bachelor degree programs.
